Enduring Connection Policy

ECP-2

ECP-2 is the second stage of the CRU’s development of enduring connection policy in Ireland. On the 10 June 2020 the CRU published their decision on ECP-2, which set policy for at least three annual batches of connection offers (ECP 2.1, ECP-2.2, and ECP-2.3). The ECP-2 applications window is open for the month of September each year (i.e. 1 September 2020 – 30 September 2020 for ECP-2.1).

EirGrid and ESB Networks (the System Operators or “SOs”) have taken this opportunity to review and publish an updated joint ruleset of how applications are assigned to nodes for offer processing. This update is based on feedback received from industry and the SOs’ own processing work since the original node assignment ruleset was published in 2009. The ruleset will remain under review, particularly as we complete annual batches, and updates will be published as required.

Applications will be initially assigned to nodes for ECP 2.1 by end December 2020 for offer processing in 2021.

The updated ECP-2 Node Assignment Ruleset can be found here.

Please see sections below for details on how to apply to ECP-2.

ECP-1

ECP-1 is the first stage of the CRU’s development of enduring connection policy in Ireland. On the 27 March 2018 the CRU published their decision on ECP-1. The ECP-1 applications window opened on 27 April 2018 and closed on 28 May 2018.

The final list of applicants that were processed under ECP-1 are set out here.

The applicants will however be required to provide the actual project data at least a year before they connect and will be liable for any changes to connection method, charges, lead-times, or other as a result of the assumptions made.
