The Laois-Kilkenny Community Forum and Community Fund were established by EirGrid to recognise the important part that local communities play in the development of the electricity grid and will go to benefit groups and projects in your area.
The Community Forum is independently facilitated by Irish Rural Link. The Community Forum is comprised of local representatives from community groups and associations, and elected representatives in Laois and Kilkenny.
The purpose of the forum is to ensure that stakeholder and community views are understood and properly considered prior to and during project delivery. The group will provide a forum for dialogue between stakeholders with interests in the project and the project team. Community Forum members will also be invited to input on the design and implementation of the Community Benefit Fund.
An online information evening on the establishment of the Community Forum took place via Zoom on 28 April 2021 and expressions of interests to join the forum were sought from the 27 April 2021 until 24 May 2021.
A follow up meeting was held on 29 June 2021. A final nomination process was open until 14 June 2021. Nominations were submitted here: https://consult.eirgrid.ie/content/laois-kilkenny-community-forum-nomination-form
