Dunstown Series Compensation Project (CP0968)

The location of this device is on ESB lands adjacent to the existing 400 /220 kV substation in Dunnstown Co.Kildare, close to Twomilehouse. We are currently in Step 5 of our Framework for Grid Development (The Planning Process) and we are due to submit a planning application with Kildare County Council in August 2021. Door-to-door engagement is ongoing in the area through our Community Liaison Officers (CLO’s).

Laois-Moneypoint (CP0967) and Oldstreet-Woodland (CP0969) Series Compensation Projects

The location of these devices is not yet defined and we are currently in Step 4 of our Framework for Grid Development (Where Exactly Should we Build?). There are a number of options being progressed by the project team and local engagement is occurring at these potential locations. A best performing option (BPO) will become apparent in Q4 2021 with a planning application for each to be progressed in Q1 2022.

EirGrid will seeking feedback from landowners, local organisations and community on the most appropriate locations for placement of the series compensation equipment once more defined options are established
